57604 Pendennis Castle
The highlight of the annual Bodmin & Wenford Railway Diesel Gala on 16th September 2017 was the loan of Class 57/6 57604 Pendennis Castle by Great Western Railway. Rebuilt from Class 47/0 47209 (ex D1859), we hear 57604s two stroke General Motors GM645 V12 engine working hard as she tackles the line's challenging 1 in 37 gradients, top n' tailing with the BWR's resident Class 33/1 33110, Class 37/0 37142 and Class 50 50042 Triumph. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=__W_cnj5I_A
A pair of GWR 'Castles' - diesel style! GWR Class 57/6s 57604 Pendennis Castle + 57602 Restormel Castle (having earlier failed) climb Hemerdon Bank working the 5Z70 1011 Penzance - Paddington sleeper ECS working on 17th December 2017. This working was required following the failure of the 'up' train on Friday night (15/12/17) resulting in Penzance having both sets of sleeper stock and three Class 57s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTaKq8hAQeY
